Over 80 branches of Spar NI took party in the Blooming Great Tea Party so there were tons of people involved to raise money for Marie Curie.

£30,000 could pay for an hour of nursing care at home for 1,500 people living with a terminal illness; it could also pay for 800 slide sheets, an essential piece of equipment used by Marie Curie nurses used to move someone living with a terminal illness; or it could pay for over 160 Marie Curie nurses to look after a patient with a terminal illness at home, for a full nine-hour shift through the night.

Bronagh Luke, head of corporate marketing at the Henderson Group, owners of the SPAR franchise in Northern Ireland said; “This was our first large scale fundraising activity for Marie Curie since SPAR announced the partnership a couple of months ago. As ever, our shoppers have shown what a generous bunch they are, and we’re delighted so many of our retailers got involved in such a successful bit of fundraising activity.”

Conor O’Kane, Senior Partnership Manager (NI & Scot) commented; “I attended the Tea Party at SPAR Lagan Valley for the morning and we were so impressed with the level of commitment by the store managers and staff in  making their morning so successful.

“We’re so grateful for this support and for the generosity of SPAR retailers and shoppers across Northern Ireland in raising this phenomenal amount for Marie Curie.”
