Free Food Related Games website Plays.org

Over the past few weeks I have been playing some games on lunch breaks and after work to turn my brain off my work tasks (something I highly recommend). I was told about the website Plays.org because someone though i’d find the good games quite funny to play. At first I thought this is going to be another website with constant popup advertisements but I was wrong! Since playing any of the games ads have never been forced to pop up or been intrusive to having fun playing the games.

As much as I have been enjoying playing these games myself I realised that there is actually some educational benefit in some of them too and I tested the website on my tablet too. I found a game ‘Barbie you can be a chef’ game (nobody say anything! This was for testing purposes only and I refuse to confirm or deny that I secretly enjoyed playing it) 😉

I think this game was brilliant for kids to show them to steps involved in cooking and preparation of food. The idea of the game is that it walks you though the different steps with some fun music and a very slow timer in the background. The faster you complete the items the more stars you get awarded at the end. But it is hard to fail. I just found that this one in particular would be great for young children to experience and best of all it is free, so no asking mum or dad for your credit card to purchase some apps on app stores or anything like this. This is only one of the game there are literally thousands and in every category you can think of. Here are just three which are mentioned on the food games category. Scooby Doo is my next one to ‘test’ 😉

So going back to the ‘Barbie you can be a chef’ game. Let me show you some of the screens so you can get an idea.

As you progress through the game you unlock different recipes starting at the simplest of smoothie to making a burger. The below shows some of the step they learn from making cupcakes (of course!)

Then walking you through baking and then decorating your finished cupcake. What I loved is most of the steps are pretty accurate as for the components and ingredients of making cupcakes. So if you need your little ones off your hands for half an hour open up Plays.org search for the food category and leave them to it! 🙂
